ジャニーズ初 ＮＥＷＳ加藤が小説出版
ＮＥＷＳ加藤成亮（２４）が小説家デビューすることが２２日、所属のジャニーズ事務所から発表された。小説の題名は「ピンクとグレー」（角川書店）。来年１月２８日に発売する。同事務所所属のタレントとして初めて小説を書き上げた加藤は、この日から、加藤シゲアキに改名したことも明かした。
On 22nd of November, it has been revealed from Johnny’s Entertainment that NEWS’ Kato Shigeaki will debut as novel writer. The title of his work is “Pink and Grey”. It will be released on January 28, 2012. The idol will take the name of Kato Shigeaki (name in katakana 加藤シゲアキ) for his first time as a writer.
加藤が初めて手掛けた「ピンクとグレー」は、全２７２ページに及ぶ長編小説だ。芸能界を舞台に、成功と挫折という２つの道を歩む親友同士のはかなく切ない人生を描いている。書き始めたのは今年２月ごろで、自分で決めた締め切り日、３月３１日までの約２カ月で一気に初稿を書き上げたという。
“Pink and Grey” is a long novel of 272 pages. It pictures the sad and fleeting lives of two friends walking the two paths of the showbusiness world: the success and the frustration. He started writing it on February of this year and he worked on it as he decided until 31st of March, he finished it all in just 2 months.
加藤 ＮＥＷＳのリリースもグループ活動もままならない、混沌（こんとん）とした時期でした。僕は役者の仕事もあるけど、何よりも書きたかった。自分の個性になったらいいし、メンバーのためになるかとも思いました。
“We weren’t free to have group activities or new releases as NEWS, it was a chaotic time. I worked as an actor too but I wanted to write most of anything else. I thought I should be more independent and that maybe it would have been a good thing to the other members too.”
文章を書くことは好きで「２５歳までに小説を書きたい」という夢はあった。そして、この不安な時期をチャンスに変えた。完成後、ジャニーズ事務所関係者が原稿を角川書店に持ち込んだところ、トントン拍子で出版が決定。芸能界を舞台にした内容について、加藤は「フィクション。モデルはいない」と言いながらも「自分が投影されている部分はあるとは思う。書いていて救われました」と明かした。
He always liked to write and his dream was “to write a novel before my 25 years.” So he took those bad times as a chance. Once he completed it he asked a man from JE to bring the manuscript to Kadokawa Publishing and in few time the release was decided. About taking the showbiz as setting Kato said: “It’s all fiction. I had no models” but he also noted: “I think there are parts in which there’s my projection. Writing saved me”.
小説のごとく、ＮＥＷＳで活動していた６人は別々の道を歩み始めた。１０月に山下智久と錦戸亮がグループ脱退を発表。加藤によると、６月の時点で６人全員が集まり、２人が抜けることについて数時間話し合ったという。「それはショックでしたよ。解散の方がいいかもしれないという話もありましたが、価値観の違いで、ファンを裏切ることはしたくなかった。結果、ＮＥＷＳを残せたことが本当にうれしいです」。山下や錦戸については「一緒に寄り添ってきた家族みたいなもの。頑張ってほしい」とエールを送った。
Then, NEWS 6 members took different paths, on October Yamashita and Nishikido left the group. According to Kato the members had a meeting in June and they discussed about the matter. “It was a shock. We even talked about breaking up but we had our values and didn’t want to betray our fans. In the end I’m truly happy we kept NEWS alive.” He sent this cheer to Yamashita and Nishikido: “We’re just like a family. I want them to always do their best”.
新生ＮＥＷＳの４人は、今後に向けて話し合いを続けているという。「年明けをめどに何か発表できれば。ちょっとずつ進めています」。小説家としての夢も「いつかは直木賞」と大きく掲げたが、「ＮＥＷＳの活動がメーンで忙しくて書けないのが理想。２、３年に１回本を出せれば」。小説家の活動もＮＥＷＳのため、と自分の中で決めている。【近藤由美子】
Right now 4 members NEWS are facing forward. “I wish we will be able to announce something with the coming of the new year. We must go on little by little”. His dreams as a writer are big: “I’d like to win the Naoki Award some day” but also: “My ideal is that I will be too busy with NEWS to write. I just wish to release a novel once in 2-3 years.” He’s pretty decided to be both a writer and a NEWS member.
◆ピンクとグレー 大阪から横浜へ引っ越しした小学生の河田大貴は同じマンションに住む鈴木真吾と出会い、中学、高校、大学と密接した青春時代を送る。高校生の時、２人はバイト代わりに芸能活動をスタート。真吾がスターダムを駆け上がっていく一方、エキストラから抜け出せない大貴は取り残されていく。２人は決裂したが、再び巡り合った時、運命の歯車が回り出す。角川書店担当者は加藤のデビュー作について「新人賞募集作品の中でもレベルが高い。リアリティーをもっており、一気に約２７０ページを読ませる力がある。文学ファンにも受け入れられる」と高く評価している。
Kawada Daiki, a primary school student who moved from Osaka to Yokohama meets a guy who lives in his same mansion, Suzuki Shingo. They spend middle school and high school together, becoming close friends. During high school they begin to work for the showbiz as part-time job. Shingo becomes a great star while Daiki can’t get anything more than extra roles. They break up but when they meet again the wheel of fate starts to spin. A man from Kadokawa publishing said about Kato’s work: “Between novels running for the rookie of the year award the level is high. It’s a book that has reality power and that you can read at once. I think it will be well accepted also by literature fans.”
Kato about the decision to modify is name in katakana: “In this time in which NEWS are changing their attitude I wanted to have a name that is easy to read. I want my book to be read by as many people as possible. It was my own choice”.
